Blown Glass & Hotshop Technologies

Technology of glass blowing or hotshaping / hotsculpting with pipe belongs to one of the oldest technology of glass processing, but before glass blowing, well known is the beads production by winding the glass on a wire or mold melted glass used in 5th Cent. b. C. in Mediteraneam teritory. In Czech/Bohemian countries we can found blowing and hotshaping technologies in the 2nd half of the 13th Century.

The hot glass arround 1100°C is gathered on a metal pipe, bubble is formed and then its blown into a wooden mold, setting the final shape like vase, bowl, beaker etc. There is a myriad of various hotshaping and decoration techniques (ribs, cane techniques, coils etc) which can be used for the final design and product.
